BOLTON WANDERERS are opening their doors to individuals, sports clubs and organisations around the globe who want to learn the secrets that have made the Wanderers such a success story in recent years.

Now regarded as one of the most successful clubs in the UK and respected across Europe, the Club recently announced the appointment of John Hindley as the Club's first International Academy Manager, who will take on the responsibility of promoting the Club's latest initiative, the BWFC International Football Academy to junior and senior football clubs in all territories around the world.

Mr Hindley will take a lead role in the planning and development of Wanderers' International Academy, which is scheduled to be launched next month.

Wanderers' manager Sam Allardyce said that the launch of an International Academy will help develop the Club to a new global audience and find the next generation of players to wear the famous white shirt.

"In our discussions about creating an International Academy, we felt our blueprint for success was the reason why the Club has developed into an established team in the top flight of English football. We now feel it is right to share some of those experiences and expertise with individuals and teams around the world who want to strive to be successful.

"We have the best and largest backroom staff in the Premiership offering expertise in their own field, so it's a natural progression that we will endeavour to have the best International Academy.

"Our aim of this new initiative is to find the next generation of players to continue our rapid progress as a Club who continue to be successful on the domestic front, but ultimately across Europe."

Mr Hindley said that serving the wider interests of Bolton Wanderers to new areas of the game was the reason why he has taken the role of International Academy Manager.

"I have been very impressed with the concept of the BWFC International Academy and I am looking forward to helping the Club develop a world-class programme," said Mr Hindley.

"I am eager to work with players and coaches from around the world and, if we get this right, I believe it has tremendous potential to help the Club continue to succeed at the highest level in the English Premier League.

"There has been a need to develop a quality residential that will enable players to book on for the week and receive an intensive coaching programme delivered by our Academy Coaches and supported by our Sports Scientists, with the intention of looking for the next up and coming stars to grace the Reebok.

"We have developed a few courses with the sole intention of player development and talent identification."

Chris Sulley, Academy Director, is now focussing his attention to the inaugural week long residential, which takes place at the superbly appointed Hopwood Hall later this summer. He is hoping that an influx of high achieving individuals will come along and sample training with the elite that the Club has to offer.

He said:

"The International Academy is a great opportunity for individual players to book onto our residential and be given the opportunity to display their skills in front of Academy Coaches, in a secure learning environment.

"The players' welfare, education and medical needs are as important to us as is their technical ability and coaching requirements.

"All young players dream about playing in Cup Finals and winning Championships. Our coaches will strive to bring out the qualities required to succeed at the highest level. The coaches will use the latest pioneering techniques, as developed by the first team, to identify talented players.

"The overriding factor is for the attendees to have fun. The game is there to be enjoyed, we encourage boys and girls to play with a 'smile on their faces' and in a relaxed, confident manner, so that their true potential can be realised."

The BWFC International Academy will be a focal point for the training and development of young players and coaches from all backgrounds around the world.

The facilities will be available to a broad spectrum of footballers and organisations from all corners of the globe encompassing both men's and women's football.

The International Academy has agreed a partnership with north-west based Hopwood Hall College, which has world-class facilities to implement all the courses that will be offered. The college is set in idyllic surroundings in the heart of Greater Manchester and is only 20 minutes from the Reebok Stadium.

Hopwood Hall boasts a state-of-the-art £6 million building, which opened in September 2005, housing classrooms, learning resource centre, student services, cafeteria, bistro, shops and conference facilities.

A £3 million sports arena opened in 2002 and features a large sports hall which can be used for 5-a-side, basketball, volleyball, netball or badminton. It also houses a fully-fitted fitness suite of Oxide cardio and resistance training equipment.

Outdoor facilities include all weather pitch and floodlighting and extensive football pitches maintained to a very high standard.

The courses, which range from an extensive full residential week to a one-day streamlined course, will see the advancement in sports science techniques as a focal point on all courses as the Club encourages youngsters to sample some of the techniques that are used in every day training by the first team.

Areas of interest include:

- Fitness testing delivered by Academy Sports Science team.

- Sports psychologists who deliver a series of sessions taken from the first team delivery that will include personal profiles, self talk, imagery etc.

- Football specific conditioning coaches expert in their field of instruction in physically conditioning players, who will fitness test them and measure their scores against the Club's first team and Academy players.

- Diet and nutrition seminars.

- Match analysis/video seminars.

- Behind the scenes tour of the Reebok Stadium.

- Games against Academy squads or local teams' dependant on level.

- Full organised activities in and around the area.

- Fully equipped English lessons for foreign teams and individuals who want to extend their development both on and off the field.

- Full 24 hour supervision by BWFC coaches.

To promote the International Academy a new website has been developed www.bwfcia.co.uk which will be available for all clubs and individuals to understand what each courses comprises of.

The Club has already received enquiries from junior clubs around the world to attend the residential courses. Teams from as far as India, South Africa and the USA will be visiting the International Academy later this year. Closer to home teams in the UK, Ireland and Iceland have also booked courses in the summer.
