Captain: We Need Our Fans
WITH NINE games remaining to preserve their Barclays Premier League status, Kevin Nolan has issued a rallying call to the Wanderers supporters.
Sunday's defeat to Wigan Athletic was Wanderers' fourth successive reverse in the league and saw Gary Megson's men miss out on the opportunity to move away from danger.
And the skipper made no excuses following the disappointing loss.
He said: "We were poor today, especially in the first half. In the second half we put them under a lot of pressure but it was just that goal we needed."
The midfielder revealed that the disappointment on the terraces was also shared in the dressing room.
He added: "Going into the dressing room there were a lot of disappointed lads but it's now up to us to stand up and be counted. We'll get together and make sure we go on from here. We have got nine games to go to get ourselves out of this. We all certainly believe that we can get out of it. It's not the time to being talking about it, we need to do it.
Following the game, Megson said that if there wasn't a vast improvement, then the Club would stay in the bottom three. Nolan agreed with this boss.
He said: "On that evidence we are. He's only speaking the truth. We were rightly booed off by our fans. It's always disappointing to see that and to see the anger in their faces. We are hurting as much as them.
"As club captain I ask them to please stay with us. We do need them especially in our hour of need."
